This blog will have my opinions on controversial topics that are somewhat new and old views. I'm very new to this blogging stuff so be patient with me if I mess up. Also, this is a civil and mature blog so if you would like to leave your opinion in a comment, do NOT use name calling, bashing, or other childish actions. I would love to hear from other people on their opinions so we can open our minds and learn from each other.

Arkansas Bans Abortions
Abortions are still a hot topic even in 2013, and I honestly think that it always will be. This is because you have so much support and passion for both sides of this debate. There is Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. However, upon research I found that on "1992, in the case of Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, the Supreme Court reaffirms the validity of a woman's right to abortion under Roe v. Wade. The case successfully challenges Pennsylvania's 1989 Abortion Control Act, which sought to reinstate restrictions previously ruled unconstitutional." Women have been fighting for the right to have abortions at their own discretion while others are fighting for the right of the unborn child inside the mother to be. A lot of hate and hurt always end up being spewed during these debates and nothing positive seems to be done. I have my own views on this that people on both sides will agree and disagree with. Honestly I do believe that the government and state should NOT have a right to place restrictions or bans on Abortion due to the fact that sometimes an abortion is needed. This blog is about the newest law from Arkansas that bans abortions after 12 weeks or the first trimester. A quote from the article states, "The law contradicts the limit established by Supreme Court decisions, which give women a right to an abortion until the fetus is viable outside the womb, usually around 24 weeks into pregnancy, and abortion rights groups promised a quick lawsuit to block it."
Senator Jason Rapert reportedly compared abortions to the Holocaust and Genocide.
This law still has a while before it would be placed into effect and it has a lot of people supporting that it won't survive long enough to be in effect. In my personal opinion I believe this law is wrong. Yes, I feel it is violating our women's and constitutional rights, it also could put a lot of women's lives in danger. Say for example, a woman is pregnant and all seems to be going fine until her dr. or OB notices a problem that could be a danger to the mother or baby, or if they notice a problem that shows the child will be still born or born with a defect that would cause pain. If she can't get an abortion due to her being over the 12 weeks then what is she supposed to do? What if her insurance won't cover it because it's against the law? Women should be able to have the choice to have an abortion if it is a danger her life or the life of the child if she is 12 weeks or over. I don't believe it's a good idea to bet an abortion just because you don't feel like having a baby or because you are too young. I feel if the baby is healthy and the mom is to, then you should at least give it some time to think about it and other options. I also believe that if the mom is well informed about the development of the child and the risks of having an abortion and she still wants to go through with it then it is HER choice.
This blog is just a short sample of my views on this topic and on my thoughts on this law. I may write more on this topic at a later date depending on if this gets any comments or hits (wouldn't want to continue a worthless and meaningless blog).
I think this law is rather dumb and unconstitutional, I don't think it will make it or if it does, it won't last long. So what are your thoughts and opinions on this topic? Please leave a comment to let me know.

but who is she to decide for that baby it doesn't deserve life. If it wont kill her and its healthy she has no right to deny someone else life
ReplyDeleteThis is a hard topic for me because I'm on both sides of the idea. I believe it should be the women's choice but I to believe that it's wrong to take a life in this way. However, I do believe their are some exceptions to this rule. If the mother KNOWS she won't be able to or want to care for this child and has nobody else to do so then she should probably have it aborted before it is born and lives a life of neglect and Hell. Also, if a women is raped and has the baby she to may hate the child and think of it as a constant reminder of the person who attacked her. Then there are the people who have babies that are sick and will need medical treatment or have a higher risk of being stillborn.
